Oni sits on top of your local Claude Code setup — no duplicate AI stack. You use the same tools you trust for day-to-day development.
ShinobiX · Built on Claude Code
Oni is a simple desktop companion that uses the Claude Code you already run on your PC. Practice and navigate algorithmic interviews with real-time assistance that does not show up on screen sharing or screenshots.
You need Claude Code installed with an active subscription. Most professional developers already do — for them, Oni is free.
Oni sits on top of your local Claude Code setup — no duplicate AI stack. You use the same tools you trust for day-to-day development.
Focused on preparing for and getting through technical rounds: data structures, algorithms, and live problem solving — not generic meeting notes.
Designed not to appear on screen shares, screenshots, or captures — visible to you, not to the session.
Grant screen recording, set your language and a hotkey, and you are ready. The app stays out of your way.
From install to your first session in minutes.
Download Oni-mac.zip (or use Download Oni above). Unzip, move Oni.app to Applications, then open it. Oni asks for screen capture access so it can work with what is on your display.
Choose your language and the shortcut you want to invoke help without breaking flow.
Run it alongside your interview or practice. It stays invisible to others on the call.
Tools like Cluely, Ofradr, FinalRound AI and Interview Coder often lock you into expensive monthly plans. Oni does not — the app is free; you only use the Claude Code license you (may) already pay for.
Why is Oni free for many developers?Separate product, separate bill
Uses your Claude Code · app is free
The desktop app costs nothing. Bring your own Claude Code; if you already subscribe for work, incremental cost for interview prep is zero.
Not a black-box cloud interview bot — it runs on the Claude Code environment you installed and control.
Engineered to avoid showing up on screen sharing and screenshots so your session looks clean to others.
Oni is built to orchestrate and use Claude Code on your machine. It is not a standalone replacement for Anthropic’s tooling — you install Claude Code and maintain your subscription; Oni layers a focused interview experience on top.
Yes. Oni itself is free. You may already pay for Claude Code as a professional developer; in that case using Oni adds no app fee. If you do not have Claude Code yet, you will need to install it and purchase Anthropic’s subscription separately.
Developers preparing for or taking coding and algorithmic interviews who want discreet, real-time help without paying for another interview-AI product.
The UI is designed so it does not appear on screen sharing, screenshots, or similar captures in normal use — you see it locally, others on the call typically do not.
Those products usually charge a dedicated subscription for interview assistance. Oni is free and relies on Claude Code instead of bundling another paid AI backend — different economics, same goal of live help.
